Diagnosis and Part Selection Advice:
How did you know this part needed replacement? Why did you choose a certain brand/part number?
I heard a loud noise from the right front of the car whenever I made a left turn.
Part Comments
What came in the box? Were additional nuts, bolts, sealant, etc. needed for the repair?
The kit included the axle nut, and the grease and gasket for the internal cv joint. I used re-used the original six bolts for hte inner cv joint.
Repair / Installation tips:
Special tools needed? Have to remove other parts to reach this one? Any left-hand threads, sharp edges, messy fluids or other pitfalls to avoid?
I followed the Bentley manual. First I removed the axle nut and the six bolts attaching the inner cv joint to the transaxle. Then I undid the lower ball joint and pulled the wheel hub away from the axle. This was relatively easy because the last time I had it apart to replace the front wheel bearing I had put anti-seize on the axle spline. Getting the axle out from behind the engine was a little tight, but do-able. The hardest part of thejob was finding an 8mm internal 12 point bit...Sears and NAPA both didn't have it. Finally I got a Lisle 4-bit set form Pep Boys. Make sure you have this tol before you start.
