1992 Saab 900 Exhaust & Catalytic Converter

Diagnosis and Part Selection Advice:

How did you know this part needed replacement? Why did you choose a certain brand/part number?
Exhaust leak detected from catalytic converter as well as several other places along the exhaust pipe.

Part Comments

What came in the box? Were additional nuts, bolts, sealant, etc. needed for the repair?
Catalytic converter- extension for applicable flanges (this car uses the 4-bolt flanges), warranty card.
Exhaust system- couple of different flanges (again 4-bolt flanges used) & resonator, muffler.

Repair / Installation tips:

Special tools needed? Have to remove other parts to reach this one? Any left-hand threads, sharp edges, messy fluids or other pitfalls to avoid?
I would suggest removal of entire exhaust system, and replacement of the exhaust manifold gasket while the exhaust system is off the car. Then when putting back together use high-temperature silicone to seal it up good.

After removing old system, put the exhaust header back on with the new gasket, and lay out the new system in order to forsee the pieces and order which you will be installing the new ones. A ratcheting wrench would have been helpful, but not absolutely necessary (I didn't have one but got it done anyway).
