Diagnosis and Part Selection Advice:
How did you know this part needed replacement? Why did you choose a certain brand/part number?
The window simply would not go up and/or down. One could hear the electric motor that drives the window.
I ordered a parts list for the vehicle from an Ebay site. I was expecting a disc or an email transmission. Instead, the seller sent the list via U.S mail. The diagrams and lists were microscopically arranged to prevent anyone over 38yrs of age from reading the list. However, I found a way.
Additionally, I searched the web for information that would assist with my project. I was surprised at how little I could find. A blogger (and his input can be found on multiple websites) had written an outline of how to remove the Window Regulator. It was obvious that he was a better mechanic than teacher. However, his/her advice was better than none. With the combination of the two pieces of info, I found my way through the door trim, electrical connections, and insulation adhesive to finally see a real live "Winder Regalater".
I am also mechanically challenged considering myself to be at the "pre-novice" level. I studied my material and still had no clue as to what was what. But, with patience and persistence, I was able to identify all parts down to each individual bolt and nut.
If you are not familiar with this part, understand that it is an assembly connected by cables and to top off your day, parts of it are connected to the door with bolts that are up to 18" apart. Rock Auto does not have picture of this item. I pulled some pictures from other parts suppliers then verified RA's OEM part number and placed my order.
This appears to be a fairly simple job. Unfortunately, I usually break something during my repair process and have to order additional parts.
I will write more once the item lands on the porch. Wish me luck.
