Additions:
I have seen a bad coolant temp sensor set a p0171 fault code for low engine temperature & cause a check engine light to come on.It is hard to "catch it" failing but with a GM scanner I have seen this fault happen on multiple occasions-GM TECH
Special tools needed? Have to remove other parts to reach this one? Any left-hand threads, sharp edges, messy fluids or other pitfalls to avoid?this part is under the intake plenum,i have accesed them by removing the generator & belt.
