Diagnosis and Part Selection Advice:

How did you know this part needed replacement? Why did you choose a certain brand/part number?

First sign of trouble, fog lights kicked on and drained battery. Even with key removed, fog lights stayed on. Was able to turn off fog lights by putting turn signal on (either direction at first, then just to right.) Finally, nothing would turn off fog lights. Disconnected bulbs at the fog lights themselves, saves having to deal with fuses. Interior dash "idiot" light stays on, but does not drain battery completely, I drove car like this for about 3 weeks while looking for new part.

Part Comments

What came in the box? Were additional nuts, bolts, sealant, etc. needed for the repair?

Box came with switch only. No other parts were needed. *MAKE SURE YOU TRANSFER FLASHER UNIT, OR YOU'LL HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK APART!*(Like I did, oops.)

Repair / Installation tips:

Special tools needed? Have to remove other parts to reach this one? Any left-hand threads, sharp edges, messy fluids or other pitfalls to avoid?

Install time - 30 minutes or less. This is a very easy job.
I took extra time cleaning crud that had accumulated under and on plastic housing.

Tools: It was easier to use a screwdriver with interchangeable heads. One phillips head and two torx head tips.

Remove negative battery cable
Move steering column to lowest tilt setting
Remove (2) phillips screws from underside of covering
Remove covering top and bottom and set aside
Remove (2) phillips (or torx, in my case) screws on top inside
Remove (2) torx screws on right side
Pull wiper switch section out of your way to the right
Take small flat screwwdriver and pry out red locking tab on wiring harness (mine just pulled off, no screwdriver needed.)
Pull out harness
Pull out old multifunction switch
Transfer foam dust circle to new switch (over lever)
Transfer flasher module (not included with new part)
Place multifunction switch back onto column
Install wiper section with the (2) small torx that were removed
Install (2) upper phillips screws (or torx)
Install upper and lower plastic
Install (2) lower phillips screws
Connect battery and test.
