Diagnosis and Part Selection Advice:

Need help on determining how to replace oil pump on my 2001 HD 6.0 motor. Oil pressure low during start up cold weather then once warmed up has 40 pounds. Any advise on why only during start up cold weather and other recomendation?
The oil pump is mounted to the front engine cover,so the front part of the engine has to be dissassembled.also the pickup tube that houses the oil pump screen has an "o"ring that attachest where the tube goes into the engine itself. If that "o" ring is worn it will shrink when cold, thus allowing air to be sucked into the tube as it is trying to channel oil pressure from pump to rest of the engine.this could be why you lose oil pressure during cold start up & after it warms up the "o" ring seal expands causing a better fit.or your oil pump could just be wearing down internally.

What came in the box? Were additional nuts, bolts, sealant, etc. needed for the repair?

Repair / Installation tips:

Special tools needed? Have to remove other parts to reach this one? Any left-hand threads, sharp edges, messy fluids or other pitfalls to avoid?
